The Raiders enter Sunday's game against the New York Jets searching for the offensive balance that has been missing since a Week 1 victory over Miami. Las Vegas is averaging 26.1 points per game this season, a significant jump from 14.2 a year ago, but offensive coordinator Andrew Janocko said the unit must improve across the board during a four-game losing streak.
The ground game ranks second-worst in the NFL at 3.0 yards per carry. The Raiders have not topped 72 rushing yards in any of the last four weeks, posting totals of 38, 48 and 65 yards in that span. Quarterback Kirk Cousins noted that scoring early would allow the team to play with a lead and commit to the run, which he said benefits every phase of the offense.
A potential boost comes against a Jets defense allowing 127.7 rushing yards per game, the ninth-most in the league. Running back Ashton Jeanty emphasized the need for the offensive line and backs to communicate better and get on the same page. The line could see another change at right guard, where Jackson Powers-Johnson missed Thursday's practice with a back injury, opening the door for Trey Zuhn III. Right tackle DJ Glaze was limited for a second straight day with an ankle issue.
Wide receiver Jack Bech could return after missing the minimum four games on injured reserve. Janocko said the coaching staff and players believe in the process and are focused on continued work to turn the rushing struggles around.
