Knights goalie returns from injury, but not starting against Devils

Vegas Golden Knights goaltender Carter Hart is back with the team for Friday's home game against the New Jersey Devils, but he will serve as the backup to Adin Hill. Hart suffered a lower-body injury during Tuesday's morning skate, forcing him to miss the team's 4-1 win over the Ottawa Senators.

Hill started that game in Hart's place and made 24 saves to secure the victory. With Hart cleared to return after practicing Thursday, the Knights reassigned goaltender Cameron Whitehead to AHL Henderson to make room on the roster.

Head coach Bruce Cassidy indicated Hart's next start will likely come during the team's upcoming four-game road trip, which begins Monday in Boston. The Knights could also see the return of forward Victor Olofsson soon, as he also returned to practice Thursday.

Friday's matchup marks the Knights' first game against former Vezina Trophy winner Connor Hellebuyck since he joined the Devils. Vegas enters the contest having won its last outing behind a strong performance from Hill.
