Veteran Las Vegas anchor John Huck is returning to local broadcast television this week, joining KSNV News 3 and its sister station, The CW, after a 19-month hiatus. General Manager Larry Strumwasser confirmed the hiring Sunday, stating in a text message, "Looking forward to John joining the News 3 family." Strumwasser indicated Huck's first on-air appearance would likely be Tuesday on the 6 a.m. newscast, though the station has made no formal announcement and Huck's bio is not yet posted on the station website.
Huck spent 12 years at Fox 5, where he became a prominent personality known for helming "The Rant" segment. He left the station abruptly in February 2025, posting on LinkedIn that he was leaving TV news after 37 years to launch his own company, Huck Communications. That post was quickly removed, and station officials offered no explanation for his departure at the time.
A Chicago native, Huck anchored CNN Headline News in the 1990s before working at stations in Los Angeles and Pittsburgh. He joined Fox 5 in 2002 and was inducted into the Nevada Broadcasters Hall of Fame in 2010. His community involvement has included co-hosting The Animal Foundation's annual Best in Show dog-adoption event at the Thomas & Mack Center. Huck has not responded to requests for comment regarding his return.
