In the 5A Southern League, Bishop Gorman and Faith Lutheran are tied for first place with 31 points each, while Arbor View trails with 28 points and faces both teams in the final week — playing Faith Lutheran at home Monday and Gorman on Wednesday. The top two teams earn a bye to the state semifinals, and the third seed hosts the sixth seed in the opening round of the state tournament beginning Oct. 28. The battle for the No. 4 seed is between Centennial and Coronado, both with 15 points, with Coronado having won their most recent meeting and the teams having drawn earlier in the season. Liberty is expected to claim the final playoff spot over Foothill and Shadow Ridge, who each have four points.

In 4A play, Palo Verde and Sierra Vista have secured No. 1 seeds in their respective leagues with perfect 10-0 league records. In the 4A Desert League, Green Valley leads Silverado for the top spot, with both teams having two league games remaining and their two regular-season meetings ending in draws. In the 4A Lake League, Eldorado hosts Las Vegas High on Monday in a game that will determine the league’s No. 1 seed. The top four teams from each of the four 4A leagues advance to the 16-team Southern Region tournament beginning Saturday, with the two finalists moving on to the 4A state tournament starting Nov. 6 at Spring Valley.

For 5A boys soccer, Coronado and Palo Verde have clinched the No. 1 seeds in the Desert and Mountain leagues, respectively, with Coronado at 23 points and Palo Verde at 22 points. Liberty has secured the Desert League’s No. 2 seed and a home game in the region quarterfinals. The top four teams in each 5A league advance to the eight-team Southern Region tournament beginning Oct. 26, with the final two Desert League playoff spots to be decided among Eldorado, Las Vegas High, and Sierra Vista, each with one league game remaining. Las Vegas High is set to play at Sierra Vista on Tuesday.
