Two drivers were critically injured after a wrong-way crash in the west Las Vegas Valley late Thursday morning. The multi-vehicle crash happened at 11:27 a.m. on West Sahara Avenue, east of South Tenaya Way, according to the Metropolitan Police Department.

Police said a 2022 Honda CR-V was traveling eastbound in the westbound lanes of Sahara at a high rate of speed, while a 2025 BMW IX was traveling westbound in the middle of three westbound travel lanes. The Honda veered right after the intersection for unknown reasons, striking the BMW head-on.

The impact caused major damage to both vehicles. A 2015 Hyundai Elantra and a 2017 Mercedes-Benz GL300, both traveling westbound behind the BMW, were struck by debris from the collision. Neither driver in those vehicles was injured.

Debris from the crash was thrown eastward, striking five vehicles belonging to a car dealership and causing additional damage. The drivers of the Honda and BMW were both transported to UMC Trauma in critical condition.

Police conducted an impaired driving investigation involving the Honda driver, who was booked in absentia at the Clark County Detention Center on reckless driving-related charges. The crash remains under investigation by LVMPD's Collision Investigation Section.
