More than 100 Southwest Gas employee volunteers and their families joined the Vegas Golden Knights at Three Square Food Bank on Saturday to pack food for neighbors in need. Volunteers sorted donated items, organized backpack meals, and packed produce and groceries, producing 1,475 bags weighing a total of 16,400 pounds. Golden Knights mascot Chance and members of the Vegas Vivas also attended the event.
The effort was part of Southwest Gas’ BLUE — Building Loves Up Everywhere — program, which encourages employees to volunteer with local nonprofits. Since 2016, the Southwest Gas Foundation has donated more than $90,000 to Three Square, and employees have contributed more than $686,000 through the company’s FUEL for LIFE workplace giving program.
The event also highlighted the ongoing partnership between Southwest Gas and the Vegas Golden Knights, with Southwest Gas serving as the team’s official natural gas partner. Leaders from all three organizations emphasized their shared commitment to addressing hunger in Southern Nevada.
“Southwest Gas and the Southwest Gas Foundation have been long-standing partners in our mission to end hunger in Southern Nevada,” said Beth Martino, President and CEO of Three Square Food Bank. “We are grateful to Southwest Gas and the Vegas Golden Knights for coming together in service and for their shared commitment to pursuing a hunger-free community.”
“We are proud to work alongside the Vegas Golden Knights and Three Square Food Bank to help ensure families and individuals facing hunger and food insecurity are supported year-round,” said Justin Brown, Southwest Gas President and CEO. Kim Frank, Vegas Golden Knights Foundation President & Chief Community Officer, added that the partnership provides “great synergy and support for the Las Vegas Community.”
