Regulators recommend licenses for five Nevada sportsbooks

The Nevada Gaming Control Board on Wednesday unanimously recommended licenses for five sportsbooks under new partnerships or management, continuing the industry's expansion across the state. Regulators waived appearances by the operators and asked no questions, citing their extensive familiarity with both companies from multiple past appearances.

The board approved William Hill Nevada for locations at Terrible's Casino in Indian Springs, Terrible's Casino in Carlin, and Terrible's Searchlight Casino in Searchlight. These sportsbooks stem from a strategic partnership between William Hill owner Caesars Entertainment Inc. and Las Vegas-based Terrible's, which formed in July to keep the Primm Valley Resort sportsbook operating after a 17-day shutdown.

Boomer's Sports Book received recommendations for locations at the Nevada Nugget in Dayton and the Delta Saloon in Virginia City. Owner Joe Asher has been a frequent applicant before regulators, most recently for books at the Four Queens and Binion's in downtown Las Vegas, and has stated a goal of having 20 branded books open statewide by year's end.

William Hill has added new or expanded locations across Nevada over the past two years, including Virgin Hotels Las Vegas, Hotel Nevada in Ely, The Verdi Grillhouse, and Barton's Club in Jackpot. The Nevada Gaming Commission could grant the licenses at its Nov. 19 meeting if it follows the board's recommendation.
