Miami held the top spot in the Associated Press Top 25 released Sunday, the only team to keep its position after a weekend that saw three more top-10 teams fall. The Hurricanes received 59 of 70 first-place votes after routing Pittsburgh 52-23 in their first game as the No. 1 team since 2002.
Idle Ohio State rose one spot to No. 2 with 10 first-place votes, replacing BYU, which dropped six places to No. 8 after losing at UCF. Georgia moved up to No. 3 following an open date, while Indiana jumped to No. 4 after an overtime win at Michigan. Notre Dame slipped to No. 5 despite being idle.
Utah and UCLA, both unbeaten, climbed to No. 6 and No. 7 respectively, marking their highest rankings in seven and 11 years. Kentucky entered the top 10 at No. 9 for the first time since 2022, and Alabama returned to No. 10 after avoiding a three-game skid with a win over Texas A&M.
Miami, Utah, and UCLA are the only remaining unbeaten Bowl Subdivision teams, the fewest at this point in a season since 1977. Ten top-10 teams have lost in the last three weeks, including three ranked No. 1 or 2 falling to unranked opponents, marking the most volatile season since 2007.
Oklahoma State re-entered the poll at No. 24 and Wisconsin debuted at No. 25 after beating Southern California. Iowa and USC fell out of the rankings. The College Football Playoff championship game is scheduled for Jan. 25 at Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas.
