The Rio hotel‑casino, located off the Las Vegas Strip, has introduced an artificial‑intelligence service that lets guests interact with the resort via ChatGPT. The new platform enables users to check room availability, browse pool cabanas, view restaurant hours and contact specific hotel departments without navigating the website or calling the property.
The system was built by hospitality‑technology firm Traversing.ai and uses a model‑context protocol that links ChatGPT with the Rio’s external reservation and operational systems. According to the release, the platform unifies guest‑service channels so information can flow across phone calls, text messages, website chats and the new ChatGPT interface.
“Today’s travelers expect instant, personalized service wherever they choose to engage,” said Vince Lentini, Rio’s senior vice president of marketing. Traversing.ai reports that its technology generated $2 million in incremental revenue for Rio and delivered a 4.5‑times return on investment, though the company did not disclose the measurement period or methodology.
The launch reflects a growing trend among Las Vegas hospitality employers to adopt AI tools for efficiency, prompting the Culinary Union to warn that such technology, especially when combined with robotics, could deepen job losses across the industry.
