Bishop Gorman boys basketball junior Canon Mullen announced he received a Division I offer from the University of Nevada, Reno, via social media over the weekend. Mullen, the son of UNLV football coach Dan Mullen, shared the news on his Instagram account, stating he was blessed to receive the scholarship offer after a conversation with UNR associate head coach Craig Neal.

In his post, Mullen wrote: 'After a great conversation with Coach Neal, I am blessed to receive a scholarship offer from the University of Nevada! Go pack!' He is listed as a 6-foot-5, 170-pound guard/wing and received his first Division I offer. Mullen was primarily a role player for Bishop Gorman last season but is expected to have a larger role this year following a strong offseason on the club circuit.

Dan Mullen responded to his son’s post with a comment that read: 'So proud of you.' The University of Nevada, Reno’s current head coach, Steve Alford, announced in September that he will retire at the end of the 2026-27 season, and the school has not yet named his replacement.
