Minnesota-based Life Time plans to open a three-story, 128,000-square-foot athletic club in December at 8555 W. Sunset Road, across from Ikea at the southeast corner of Sunset Road and Durango Drive. The facility sits on a 15-acre plot where a never-built high-rise complex left a giant hole in the ground for years. This will be the company's third location in Southern Nevada.
Monthly membership rates will start around $350 with a $200 initiation fee that the company expects to increase. During a late September tour, management said more than 10,000 people had joined the waitlist. Spokeswoman Natalie Bushaw described the facility as an "athletic country club experience" rather than a traditional gym, and said it will employ roughly 400 people.
The first level includes three indoor pools, a spa, a cafe, and locker rooms with saunas, steam rooms, cold plunges and whirlpools. The second floor features six pickleball courts with a dedicated lounge, a Kids Academy with exercise areas and language arts studio, group fitness studios, and private office suites available for an extra fee. The third level houses the main workout area with weights, cardio machines and group fitness spaces, including a training circuit senior general manager Harry Reo described as "bougie CrossFit."
Outdoor amenities include a lap pool, a leisure pool with water slides, and a bar and bistro. The Las Vegas fitness market continues to expand with other recent and planned openings, including Fit Club Las Vegas in a former Regal theater on Eastern Avenue, Municipal Gym founded by Mark Wahlberg planning a Downtown Summerlin location, and 24 Hour Fitness owner Mark Mastrov pursuing additional valley locations.
