Voting is underway for the Nevada Preps girls Athlete of the Week, recognizing standout performances from the week of Oct. 19-24. The poll features four nominees and closes at noon Thursday, with results scheduled to be reported Friday.
The nominees include a senior volleyball player who recorded 13 kills in a five-set victory over Foothill on Tuesday, bringing her season total to a team-leading 276 kills. A senior cross country runner won the Faith Lutheran Harvest Fest Invitational 5-kilometer race Saturday in 17 minutes, 50 seconds, beating the field by over a minute and helping the Crusaders secure the team title.
A senior goalkeeper is also nominated after making two saves in a playoff-opening win over Spring Valley on Saturday; she has accumulated 36 saves and 11 shutouts this season. Rounding out the group is a sophomore tennis player who defeated 2025 champion Somi Song of The Meadows 7-5, 6-1 Friday to claim the 4A state singles title, finishing the season undefeated.
