UNLV women's basketball will retire the No. 23 jersey of former star Desi-Rae Young on Nov. 6 during the team's home opener against UTSA at the Thomas & Mack Center. The ceremony marks the first jersey retirement for the program in 23 years, and Young becomes just the fourth Lady Rebel in history to receive the honor.
A Desert Oasis High School graduate, Young helped lead UNLV to three consecutive Mountain West regular-season and tournament championships along with three straight NCAA Tournament appearances. She finished her four-year career as one of only two Lady Rebels to surpass both 2,000 career points and 1,000 career rebounds.
Young earned All-America honorable mention honors as a senior in 2023-24, becoming the seventh player in school history to do so, and was a two-time conference Player of the Year. During that final season, she was one of just four Division I players to average at least 17 points, nine rebounds, two assists and a steal.
"I am forever grateful to UNLV and to the Lady Rebels," Young said in a statement. "Being the fourth jersey hanging from these rafters is both a dream and a goal come true. I can't put into words how happy and proud I am to be forever remembered at UNLV."
