Superintendent’s Cup storylines: Centennial, Green Valley get 2nd chance at rivals

The Clark County School District's high school football season concludes Friday with the inaugural Superintendent's Cup finals, featuring the top two teams from each of three independent divisions. All games kick off at 7 p.m.

In Division I, Centennial (6-3) travels to Arbor View (6-3) for a rematch of a Sept. 10 game the Bulldogs lost 55-34. Centennial advanced with a 27-24 overtime win at Liberty last week. Coach DJ Campbell said the moment allows his team to "showcase who we are" and prove they can compete with anyone when mentally locked in. Senior Jayden Thomas said the team develops more as a family in the postseason, with everyone playing for each other.

Campbell and Arbor View coach Sam Norris share a long history dating to when Norris was an assistant at Cheyenne while Campbell was a player. Norris later served on Campbell's staff during Centennial's 2023 state title run, and Arbor View offensive coordinator Desmond Brentley teaches at Centennial. Campbell described the relationship as "family" with "a lot of love" between the programs despite the rivalry.

In Division II, Green Valley (7-1) visits Basic (8-1) in a Henderson Bowl rematch the Gators lost 21-12. First-year coach Brandon Harton has led Green Valley to the Division II West League title behind an offense averaging 45.38 points per game, including an 82-52 win over Silverado.

The Division III final matches Valley (6-2) against Sunrise Mountain (8-1) at Sunrise Mountain. The Miners won the regular-season meeting 26-24 in overtime.
