Raiders RB Dylan Laube’s 1st TD meaningful despite loss to Patriots

Las Vegas Raiders running back Dylan Laube scored his first career touchdown Sunday at Gillette Stadium, a 3-yard run in the fourth quarter that drew a loud cheer from the more than 20 friends and family members who made the trip from nearby New Hampshire and Long Island. The moment came during a 45-17 loss to the New England Patriots, a result Laube acknowledged dampened the personal milestone. "It's an awesome feeling," Laube said. "But it sucks that it came in a loss and when we were down by so much."

Laube, who played collegiately at New Hampshire, saw some of the most extensive action of his three-year career, finishing with four carries for 9 yards and three catches for 16 yards. He also caught the first career pass attempt from rookie quarterback Fernando Mendoza. Laube said the increased role reflects trust he has earned under offensive coordinator Klint Kubiak. "You have to prove yourself every year and you do that every single day and every single practice," Laube said. "I feel like I've started to earn some trust."

Several of Laube's friends in attendance wore Patriots gear or neutral clothing, a lighthearted subplot he noted after the game. "Two of my friends on the sideline were wearing (Patriots) gear, and I was like, 'Come on, guys,'" Laube laughed. The Raiders fell to 3-2 on the season, and Laube said he is not ready to reflect on the achievement. "I think ultimately when my career is done, I can look back at this and it will be emotional," he said. "But right now, we're 3-2 and have a long season ahead."
