Boulder City Chautauqua to bring America’s founding era to life

The Boulder City Chautauqua returns Oct. 23-24 at the Boulder Creek pavilion with a theme centered on America’s founding era, coinciding with the nation’s 250th anniversary. Organizers say the event will feature live portrayals of Martha Washington, Paul Revere, and Alexander Hamilton by scholar-performers selected for their expertise and authenticity.

Katharine Pittman, the official Martha Washington at Colonial Williamsburg and who portrayed the character in a PBS Fourth of July special filmed at Colonial Williamsburg’s Historical Area, will reprise her role. Terry Lynch will perform as Paul Revere at 6:30 p.m. on Oct. 23, sharing his perspective on Revere as a businessman navigating turbulent times and expressing hope that audiences leave entertained, informed, and inspired to learn more.

A retired military officer and former political science instructor at the U.S. Air Force Academy in Colorado will portray Alexander Hamilton, noting his excitement to return to Boulder City after performing there years ago and his appreciation for the city’s history and audience. Tickets are $20 per performance or $35 for a bundled evening and matinee, available at Ace Hardware, Boulder Dam Hotel, the Chamber of Commerce, or online via bcchautauqua.org.
