Federal agents searched Rep. Ilhan Omar's home in Washington, D.C., as part of a criminal investigation, according to anonymous sources and a Justice Department statement.
Federal agents searched the Washington, D.C., residence of Democratic Representative Ilhan Omar on Monday as part of a criminal investigation, according to two individuals familiar with the matter. The operation was carried out by Homeland Security Investigations agents acting under a judicially authorized search warrant obtained by the Justice Department.
The Justice Department said in a statement that "the enforcement action is part of an ongoing federal criminal investigation but provided no other details. More information about the investigation’s focus was not immediately clear."
The development follows remarks made by Vice President JD Vance last May, in which he indicated that the Trump administration intended to pursue immigration‑fraud allegations against Omar. Omar has repeatedly rejected those claims, describing them as 'disgusting lies.'
