Raiders coach Klint Kubiak discusses Week 5 matchup against Patriots

The Las Vegas Raiders are listed as 3½-point underdogs as they will head to Foxboro, Massachusetts, for their Week 5 contest Sunday against the New England Patriots. Coach Klint Kubiak met with the media Friday to discuss the preparation from team headquarters in Henderson.

While it’s unclear if the Raiders will have running back Ashton Jeanty play against the Patriots, they are thin at receiver as Dont’e Thornton won’t be activated from IR. Ashton Jeanty has been dealing with an ankle injury and was limited in practice Thursday by a foot injury ahead of Sunday’s game at New England.

Rookie Malik Benson, a training camp standout after starring at Oregon, is in line for an uptick in offensive snaps with the Raiders’ receiving corps ailing. The Raiders offensive line knows it needs to be better in order for Klint Kubiak’s running game to thrive. The Raiders opened the practice window Wednesday for wideout Dont’e Thornton Jr., mired this season on injured reserve as he works his way back from hamstring pain.
