The Milwaukee Brewers edged the Los Angeles Dodgers 2‑1 in the opening contest of the National League Championship Series, securing Game 1 on Sunday with a solo home run by Brice Turang, a go‑ahead hit from Luis Lara and a shut‑down effort by the bullpen. The victory gave Milwaukee an early edge in the best‑of‑seven rematch against the defending World Series champions, who had swept the Brewers in the previous year’s NLCS.
Los Angeles struck first in the second inning when Andy Pages drove an RBI single off Brewers starter Jacob Misiorowski. Turang answered in the fourth, launching a solo homer off Dodgers starter Tarik Skubal to tie the game. The Brewers seized the lead in the fifth as Lara singled home Garrett Mitchell.
Misiorowski yielded one run over 4 1⁄3 innings before Milwaukee’s relievers assumed command. DL Hall was credited with the win, while the bullpen combination retired the Dodgers over the final 4 2⁄3 innings. Trevor Megill closed out the ninth for the save, preserving the one‑run advantage despite a late threat from Los Angeles.
Skubal struck out seven batters across five innings but allowed the Brewers’ two runs. The Dodgers managed seven hits yet failed to add another tally after Pages’ early RBI, as Milwaukee repeatedly escaped scoring chances. Defensive plays and timely pitching kept the Dodgers’ potent lineup in check.
The next game of the series is set for Monday, Oct. 12 at 5 p.m. ET at American Family Field in Milwaukee. Los Angeles will aim to even the best‑of‑seven NLCS, while Milwaukee looks to seize a commanding 2‑0 lead before the series shifts to Los Angeles for Game 3.
