Tomas Hertl's second power-play goal of the night, scored with 34.1 seconds remaining, gave the Golden Knights a 3-2 victory over the Pittsburgh Penguins at PPG Paints Arena on Tuesday. The win improved Vegas to 10-5-2 on the season and came on the second night of a back-to-back.
Rookie forward Trevor Connelly tied the game for the second consecutive contest, while goaltender Adin Hill turned aside 23 shots. The Knights overcame a parade to the penalty box, killing all six Pittsburgh power plays, including a five-on-three disadvantage lasting 1 minute, 22 seconds in the final minutes.
Pittsburgh forward Tommy Novak was called for tripping with 1:17 left, setting up the man-advantage that produced Hertl's game-winner. The victory followed a dramatic overtime loss in Boston on Monday, where the Knights rallied from two goals down to earn a point before falling in a shootout.
In that game, forward Braeden Bowman was ejected for elbowing Boston's Matthew Poitras. The NHL announced Tuesday it would not issue supplemental discipline for the play. The Knights continue a four-game road trip and are expected to get forward Victor Olofsson back at some point during the swing.
