‘It’s not always going to be pretty’: Raiders manage margins to take down Jets

Las Vegas Raiders quarterback Kirk Cousins labeled his post-touchdown dance a "Wellness Celebration," a tribute to the training staff after he sneaked in a 1-yard score during a 38-33 victory over the New York Jets at MetLife Stadium. The 38-year-old quarterback completed 19 of 26 passes for 247 yards and three touchdowns while adding the rushing score, posting a 141.0 passer rating to help the Raiders erase a 27-18 halftime deficit and snap a four-game skid.

The Jets dominated the first half, outgaining Las Vegas 276 yards to 97 and controlling the clock, as former Raiders quarterback Geno Smith threw for 290 yards and first-half touchdowns to Adonai Mitchell and Isaiah Williams. New York finished with 439 total yards and averaged 6.1 yards per carry on the ground, but the Raiders defense stiffened after intermission, forcing two punts, a field goal and a game-ending interception by safety Jeremy Chinn in the end zone.

Coach Klint Kubiak praised his team's resilience, saying, "Our players were resilient. Played four quarters of football. It wasn't all pretty but it's not always going to be pretty. Just finding a way to win." Las Vegas flipped the possession battle in the second half with lengthy, methodical scoring drives, converting 7 of 11 third downs and turning all four red-zone trips into touchdowns while winning the final two quarters 24-10.

Special teams provided a crucial spark when running back Dylan Laube returned a kickoff 95 yards for a touchdown, and the ensuing touchbacks gave the Raiders favorable field position. Las Vegas committed zero turnovers and balanced its attack with 33 rushes against 27 dropbacks, keeping the offense on schedule throughout the comeback.

"Again, a team win," Cousins said. "Special teams, defense got some big stops and we made enough plays in the run game, pass game to come away with a win."
