Centennial, Basic, and Sunrise Mountain advanced to their respective division title games in Nevada high school football playoffs.
Centennial clinched a berth in the Division I title game after edging Liberty 27‑24 in overtime during the semifinal round. The Bulldogs will now face Arbor View, which secured its own final berth by overwhelming Coronado 37‑13 in the other semifinal. Arbor View had previously bested Centennial in the regular season, winning 55‑34, but Centennial head coach DJ Campbell remarked, “We stepped up to the challenge. It wasn’t trying to prove the doubters wrong, it was to prove us right.”
In Division II, Basic stretched its winning streak to eight games with a 35‑20 triumph over Legacy. Quarterback Andrew Rodriguez tossed three touchdown passes, while Louden Cahill contributed 100 receiving yards and a score, and running back Carl Napoleon found the end zone twice on the ground. Basic is set to meet rival Green Valley in the championship; Green Valley earned its place by holding off Palo Verde 28‑21. The only loss on Green Valley’s record this season came at the hands of Basic, a 21‑12 defeat on Sept. 4.
Division III saw Sunrise Mountain overturn a 15‑0 halftime deficit to edge Bonanza 16‑15 in the semifinals, powered by two rushing touchdowns from Kaylin Mills. The Miners will now contest the Division III Cup against Valley, which advanced after a 42‑20 victory over Cimarron‑Memorial. The matchup renews a season‑long rivalry, as Sunrise Mountain prevailed in the first encounter 26‑24 in overtime early in the year.
