First Friday in downtown Las Vegas has been paused after a fatal shooting on the night of Oct. 2 at the intersection of Charleston and Main. Organizers announced the pause on their official social media page, stating they are "working with the City of Las Vegas, law enforcement, and other partners to reorganize and reimagine the event’s future steps."
The victim has been identified by family as Carth Onasi Jacobs‑Rodgers, a 15‑year‑old who was killed in the shooting. The suspect, Isaac Manriquez, 17, is being held without bail and faces adult charges.
In a statement, organizers expressed their "deepest sympathies to the victim’s family and everyone affected, saying they remain devastated and heartbroken over the tragedy." They also acknowledged the impact on local artists, musicians, vendors, and businesses, thanking them for "24 years of contributing to the local arts community."
As the community begins to heal, organizers encourage continued support for local artists and one another during this difficult time.
