Bishop Gorman's girls soccer team captured the Class 5A state title Saturday with a 2-1 comeback victory over Arbor View at Faith Lutheran. The win improved Gorman's record to 21-2-1 on the season.
Arbor View struck first when Sophia Sachs converted a penalty kick for an early 1-0 lead. The Aggies finished their season at 18-3-3.
Bishop Gorman answered nearly 10 minutes later when Bayly Powell scored on a free kick to level the match at 1-1 heading into halftime.
The game-winner came with 11 minutes remaining in regulation as Adrianna Adam found the back of the net to put Gorman ahead for good. The championship marks the first time since 2018 that neither Faith Lutheran nor Coronado will hold the 5A girls soccer crown.
