A wrong-way driver caused a fatal collision on Interstate 15 near the Valley of Fire Highway early Friday, killing both motorists involved and shutting down southbound traffic for hours.
Nevada State Police responded around 4 a.m. to mile marker 77 after reports of a crash between a two-door coupe and a four-door sedan. Investigators say one driver was traveling northbound in the southbound lanes, though it remains unclear which vehicle was going the wrong way.
Both drivers, an adult male and an adult female, were pronounced dead at the scene. Authorities have not released their identities.
Southbound I-15 is closed at exit 93 (State Route 168), with traffic diverted onto State Route 168 (Glendale-Moapa Road) to U.S. 93. The closure is expected to last for an undetermined time while the investigation continues.
