Wilson scores 27, Young adds 21 as Aces beat short-handed Tempo 88-78

Sunday, Aug. 23, 2026 | 7:21 p.m. VANCOUVER, British Columbia — A'ja Wilson scored 27 points, grabbed seven rebounds and dished out seven assists to lead the Las Vegas Aces to an 88-78 victory over the Toronto Tempo on Sunday night. Jackie Young contributed 21 points for the Aces, who improved to 26-13 and pulled within a half-game of the second-place Golden State Warriors in the WNBA standings. The Tempo fell to 11-26 after playing their second straight game at Rogers Arena, where 15,877 fans watched the contest. Toronto had snapped a 12-game losing streak with an 82-79 win over Portland on Friday. Kia Nurse paced Toronto with 19 points, while Kiki Rice added 14 and Temi Fagbenle chipped in 13. Aces forward NaLyssa Smith’s layup gave Las Vegas a 10-point advantage with one minute left in the second quarter, but the Tempo answered with a 6-0 run to trail 43-39 at halftime. Isabelle Harrison’s basket made it a two-point game roughly two minutes into the third period, yet Toronto never closed the gap further. Marina Mabrey (adductor), Brittney Sykes (left foot), Nyara Sabally (calf), Maria Conde (calf) and Aneesah Morrow (left knee) did not dress for the Tempo. The club announced earlier Sunday that Sykes and Morrow, who suffered injuries in the first half of the victory over Portland, will miss the rest of the season.
