Paseo Verde rolls Montana, advances to Little League World Series

SAN BERNARDINO, Calif. — Paseo Verde punched its ticket to the Little League World Series with a 9-2 win over Montana in the Mountain Region championship Friday at Al Houghton Stadium. Pitcher Owen Guzman tossed five scoreless innings, striking out nine while carrying a no-hitter into the top of the fourth. Left fielder Jace Ward recorded two hits, including a two‑run, bases‑loaded triple that sparked a four‑run inning in the bottom of the third and broke the game open. The appearance marks Nevada’s fourth straight trip to the Little League World Series. Paseo Verde will try to repeat the magic of Summerlin South, which last year became the first team from the state to claim the United States championship. The Little League World Series opens Wednesday in South Williamsport, Pennsylvania.
