Watch: Astronauts set out on rare all-female spacewalk

For only the sixth time in history, two female astronauts conducted a spacewalk outside the International Space Station. NASA astronaut Jessica Meir and French astronaut Sophie Adenot suited up for a 6.5‑hour extravehicular activity. Meir used the station’s Canadarm2 robotic arm to reach the worksite while Adenot remained tethered to the orbital outpost. This was Meir’s second all‑female EVA; she had previously taken part in the inaugural all‑female spacewalk in 2019 alongside NASA astronaut Christina Koch. The excursion marked the 284th spacewalk performed to assemble, maintain and upgrade the station, and it was the seventh spacewalk carried out this year.
