Starting CB active for Raiders against 49ers despite groin injury

Las Vegas Raiders starting cornerback Darien Porter is active for Sunday's game against the San Francisco 49ers at Levi's Stadium after being listed as questionable with a groin injury. Porter suffered the injury on the first defensive play of last week's game against the New York Jets and missed Wednesday's practice before returning for limited work Thursday and a full session Friday.

Coach Klint Kubiak said Porter has been "very intentional" in his recovery, adding, "He's working really hard to get back. He's made improvements every day." While Porter should be in the mix to start, his exact role is uncertain as rookies Hezekiah Masses and Jermod McCoy have both seen extensive practice reps.

Defensive tackle Thomas Booker is inactive after being ruled out with an ankle injury. Running back Dylan Laube will play despite an illness that arose Saturday. Defensive tackle Tim Keenan III was elevated from the practice squad for the third consecutive week and is active.

Wide receivers Dont'e Thornton Jr. and Malik Benson, safety Dalton Johnson, and offensive lineman Bryce Cabeldue are also inactive for the Raiders. Thornton, a 2025 fourth-round pick, has been inactive for two straight weeks since returning from injured reserve. Kubiak challenged Thornton this week to beat out another receiver and force his way into the lineup.

The 49ers will be without wide receivers Mike Evans (ribs/Achilles) and Deebo Samuel (hamstring), while Christian Kirk has been placed on injured reserve. Sunday's game marks the Raiders' first regular-season return to the Bay Area since relocating to Las Vegas.
