Raiders officially without key defensive starter against Buffalo Bills

The Las Vegas Raiders will take the field at Allegiant Stadium on Sunday without one of their top defensive tackles. Tonka Hemingway was ruled out Friday and remains in the concussion protocol, leaving a hole in the interior rotation against a Buffalo Bills offense that ranks fourth in the league with 790 rushing yards through five games.

Rookie JJ Pegues, a 2025 draft pick, is active at defensive tackle for just the second time this season and is expected to absorb a significant workload in Hemingway's absence. Defensive end Cian Slone, elevated from the practice squad Saturday, is inactive and will not make his NFL debut.

On the offensive side, rookie lineman Trey Zuhn III is active despite a knee injury that left him questionable. Wide receiver Jalen Nailor returns after missing last week's game with a concussion, though receivers Dont'e Thornton Jr. and tight end Carter Runyon remain on injured reserve.

The Bills will also be shorthanded. Top receiver DJ Moore is inactive for a second straight week with a shoulder injury, and standout defensive tackle Ed Oliver will not play. Linebacker Mike Danna and offensive linemen Ar'maj Reed-Adams and Jude Bowry are also out for Buffalo.

Las Vegas enters the 1:25 p.m. kickoff looking to snap a two-game losing streak against one of the AFC's top contenders.
