Raiders coach Klint Kubiak addressed the media as the team’s training camp got underway. The Las Vegas Raiders are bringing 91 players to camp this week and will have 53 on the roster for the regular‑season opener on Sept. 13 against the Miami Dolphins.
Earlier in the week the club reshaped its roster, adding three quality players at wide receiver, defensive end and linebacker. The Raiders said they needed a significant upgrade at those spots, especially after shifting to a 3‑4 defensive base, and pursued several splashy free‑agent signings to meet that goal.
Versatility along the defensive front remains a strength, with Maxx Crosby cited as one of the biggest offseason acquisitions after his planned trade to Baltimore was rescinded.
Camp activities began with a study session on Tuesday, followed by the first full‑scale practice on Wednesday. Preparations for the 2026 season are being conducted at the Intermountain Health Performance Center.
On the offensive side, the Raiders anticipate a notable improvement from the line unit, which will be counted on to protect quarterback Fernando Mendoza, described as the organization’s most invaluable asset. Mendoza, a top wide‑receiver prospect, signed his rookie contract ahead of camp; the team announced the deal Thursday via social media.
The quarterback battle is also taking shape. Kirk Cousins will participate in camp with an eye toward winning the starting job, though the No. 1 overall draft pick remains a looming factor that will have every opportunity to make his case.
Elsewhere, Tom Brady continues to expand his business interests, leveraging his personal brand and partner relationships to generate revenue from his ongoing public presence and viral video ventures.
The Raiders also noted that established stars exist at running back and tight end, while numerous skill‑position roles remain open for competition as camp progresses.
