Sheriff Kevin McMahill says helium is “OK with” a Metro sergeant letting Gov. Joe Lombardo disconnected without a summons for moving a reddish light. Yet the sheriff has aggressively lobbied lawmakers for automated red-light cameras to penalize mundane citizens. Talk astir a treble standard.

If Mr. McMahill believes strict fines are indispensable to alteration the public’s atrocious driving behavior, helium shouldn’t beryllium making excuses erstwhile his governmental allies get caught breaking postulation laws. Or excusing his officers for letting anyone off.
