A 43-year-old Pahrump man died Oct. 10 after a hit-and-run crash on North Barney Street, the Nevada Highway Patrol said Tuesday. Timothy Michael Dorn was riding a 2023 Honda Navi motorcycle southbound at 8:57 a.m. when a 2013 Honda Pilot SUV attempted to pass him at high speed in a no-passing zone.

As Dorn steered left to turn onto West Bell Vista Avenue, the SUV struck him, according to the Highway Patrol release. The SUV driver fled the scene on foot but was later apprehended by Nye County Sheriff's Department deputies and arrested on charges related to the crash.

Dorn was flown by air ambulance to a hospital, where he died from his injuries later that morning. The crash marked the 54th fatal collision and 60th traffic-related death this year in the Highway Patrol Southern Command's jurisdiction, and the investigation remains ongoing.
