Las Vegas saw its chilliest day since March as an October cold front brought temperatures well below normal. Tuesday’s high at Harry Reid International Airport reached only 64 degrees, about 20 degrees below the average for this time of year.

This marked the coldest October 13 in Las Vegas history, surpassing the previous record of 66 degrees set in 1981. The last time the city saw a high this low was on March 6, when the temperature reached 65 degrees.

Light snow fell in the Spring Mountains and Mount Charleston on Tuesday morning. The average daytime high for mid-October is typically in the low 80s, making this week’s conditions unusually cool.

Wednesday’s forecast calls for a high of 73 degrees, with dry, calm conditions and cooler-than-normal temperatures expected to continue through the rest of the week, with highs in the 70s and lows in the 50s.
