Construction of the Athletics' $2.1 billion Las Vegas ballpark remains on schedule, with the final two of five massive steel roof truss arches set to be in place by the end of the year. A's president Marc Badain said the first segments of the fourth truss arch will be installed next week, with completion expected during the first two weeks of November. "Right now, we've been hitting everything on the (construction) calendar," Badain said.
The fifth and final truss, which will support a massive cable net glass wall in the outfield offering views of the Las Vegas Strip, is scheduled for installation between the last week of November and the first weeks of December, according to Ross Bowen, senior vice president of strategy and business for the A's. Crews are also installing connector pieces known as tri-chord trusses between the arches, giving the roof its distinctive shape.
The first shoring tower — the green steel podiums supporting the trusses during installation — will be removed this week. The five towers supporting the first three truss arches are set to be removed by Thanksgiving, Bowen said. Once the towers near home plate are gone, crews can excavate and install seating platforms for the lower bowl. Platforms for the main concourse and upper deck are nearly complete, and escalators are in place but wrapped for protection.
Looking ahead to 2027, the remaining shoring towers will be removed and roof panel installation will begin early in the year, continuing through summer. The decorative "dragon scale" panels and the cable net window are expected to be fully installed by summer, with the facility fully enclosed in August, Bowen said.
