How Kinahan's hearing unfolded inside the courtroom in Dublin
Daniel Kinahan, the suspected leader of the Kinahan cartel, appeared before the Special Criminal Court in Dublin on Sunday after being extradited from Dubai following his apprehension in April.
The 49‑year‑old faces charges of directing the activities of a criminal organisation between October 2015 and April 2017.
After his appearance, Kinahan was remanded in custody. Speaking to the court, he said, "I think we each know I won't be getting bail."
According to the UK's National Crime Agency, the Kinahan cartel has been responsible for trafficking tonnes of drugs and firearms worldwide for more than two decades.
BBC Ireland correspondent Chris Page was present in the courtroom throughout the hearing.
