Moment first rare tiger in 70 years released in Kazakhstan

Umit, a female Amur tiger, was released into Kazakhstan's Ile‑Balkhash Nature Reserve as part of an initiative to rebuild the species’ population, which had been eradicated from Central Asia roughly seven decades ago. She is one of four Amur tigers transferred from Russia. Officials will monitor her adaptation to the new environment before deciding when to release the remaining three.
