Carrot Top, the Las Vegas-based comedian whose real name is Scott Thompson, broke his month-long silence on Saturday to share a heartfelt message with fans following his reported suicide attempt. He said he was overwhelmed by the outpouring of love, support, prayers, and well wishes he received during his recovery.
Thompson thanked fans for every message, text, and kind thought, saying each meant more to him than they could know. He also acknowledged public support from fellow comedians Dane Cook, Brad Garrett, and Jeff Ross after his health emergency.
After being hospitalized following a suicide attempt on September 18, as first reported by TMZ, Thompson canceled dozens of shows. He announced on Saturday that he is now planning his return to the stage.
The comedian confirmed he is scheduled to return to his residency at the Luxor Hotel & Casino on Sunday. He said while he hasn’t been able to respond to everyone individually, he felt their love and appreciates each fan from the bottom of his heart.
