Mild start gives way to storms and wind in Las Vegas this week

Las Vegas will see a mostly sunny and mild start to the work week Monday, with afternoon highs around 80 degrees. Southwest winds are expected to gust up to 25 mph Tuesday as a storm system slides down from the Pacific Northwest.

That system will bring clouds to Southern Nevada during the day Wednesday, along with increasing chances for rain and wind gusts up to 40 mph. Daytime highs will dip into the upper 70s Wednesday before dropping to the low 70s for the remainder of the week.

Rain appears likely off and on throughout Thursday, though forecasters say it is too soon to predict how much measurable accumulation might occur. The storm system is expected to move east Friday, with drying conditions heading into the weekend.
