Boyd Gaming partners with Sonesta to expand reach of casino resorts

Boyd Gaming and Sonesta International Hotels announced an exclusive strategic affiliation Tuesday that will place Boyd's nationwide portfolio of 19 casino resorts on Sonesta's distribution platform beginning in January. The partnership, branded as the Boyd Collection, includes more than 9,700 hotel rooms and 600,000 square feet of meeting and event space across properties in 11 states.

Nine Southern Nevada properties will be featured in the initial launch: Aliante, California, Cannery, Fremont, Gold Coast, Main Street Station, The Orleans, Sam's Town and Suncoast. Boyd Gaming president and CEO Keith Smith said the affiliation provides a compelling opportunity to broaden the company's customer base by introducing Sonesta users to Boyd's brand of hospitality and entertainment.

Sonesta co-CEO Keith Pierce said the deal represents an exciting next step in the company's asset-right, franchise-focused growth strategy. Sonesta, based in Newton, Mass., is the eighth-largest hotel company in the U.S. with more than 1,000 properties across 13 brands. Boyd properties will remain available on the company's traditional distribution channels.

The companies plan to link their loyalty programs — Sonesta Travel Pass and Boyd Rewards — and explore future hotel development opportunities connected to Boyd's existing properties. Sonesta Chief Development Officer Phil Hugh said the relationship creates new avenues for franchise and development growth while connecting hospitality and entertainment in a differentiated way.
