Wind gusts up to 35 mph expected through the week

Las Vegas reached a high of 81 degrees Monday under mostly sunny skies, and similar conditions are expected today and tomorrow with increasing clouds each afternoon. Wind will be a persistent feature through the next several days, with gusts reaching up to 35 mph at times.

A stray thunderstorm could develop over southern Nevada later Tuesday. Better chances for widely scattered showers arrive Wednesday, though forecasters say the best opportunity for rain will be all day Thursday. Forecast models disagree on how much precipitation the area will receive.

Drying trends begin Friday. After Wednesday's high near 80 degrees, an incoming storm system will pull colder air into the region, dropping daytime highs into the low 70s through the weekend with overnight lows in the mid-50s. The normal high and low for Tuesday are 79 and 58 degrees.
