Counter terror police say the further charge comes after a "hugely intensive and complex investigation".

Joshua Kerry, 28, the man accused of murdering Ann Widdecombe, has been charged with preparing acts of panic, including one directed at Reform UK figure Nigel Farage. Counter Terrorism Policing said Kerry was charged on Friday with one count of planning violent acts. The offence is alleged to have occurred between May 2024 and July 2026. Kerry was also charged in July with the killing of 78‑year‑old Widdecombe, a former Conservative minister and Reform UK spokeswoman. Counter Terrorism Policing Deputy Assistant Commissioner Vicki Evans said the charge announced on Friday was the result of a “hugely intensive and analyzable investigation.” She added, “This probe has been led by a dedicated squad of detectives, analysts, and forensic experts, moving connected aggregate lines of enquiry, which has resulted successful this precise superior charge.” Police said Kerry is due to appear in court on Wednesday to face the terror charge. Widdecombe was found dead on Thursday 9 July at her home in Haytor, Devon, having sustained serious injuries. She served as Conservative MP for Maidstone in Kent for 23 years and was appointed to ministerial roles in Sir John Major’s government during the 1990s. After leaving the Commons, Widdecombe appeared on the BBC’s Strictly Come Dancing and later became a Reform UK spokeswoman.
