A video posted to Instagram by motorsports driver BJ Baldwin showing his 18-year-old son, Jaeden, claiming he helped a Las Vegas police officer make an arrest has been viewed more than one million times. Baldwin posted the clip Tuesday, saying the incident occurred just before 6 p.m. at the intersection of East Tropicana Avenue and South Pecos Road, near a Rebel store.
In the video, Baldwin recounts his son telling him, "I was like, 'Wait a second. You got arrested?' He's like, 'No, I arrested somebody.'" Baldwin said Jaeden, a professional grappler, offered assistance after seeing an officer who was "unable to detain" a suspect. According to Baldwin, the officer accepted the help, and Jaeden took the suspect down.
Footage included in the post shows Jaeden recording himself with an officer detaining a person in the background. "I had to help arrest somebody, so that's why I'm late," Jaeden says in the clip. Baldwin captioned the moment, "My son, the crime fighter," adding, "Good job, Bubba. ... I think that's a good enough excuse to be late."
A Metropolitan Police Department spokesperson did not respond to a request for comment but confirmed an incident report exists for that time and location. The department directed further inquiries to a public records request.
