Romero, Atlas ahead in Henderson mayoral, City Council races

Incumbent Michelle Romero held a lead over former Henderson Police Chief Hollie Chadwick in the mayoral race, with early results showing Romero at 60.7 percent to Chadwick's 39.4 percent. The race advanced to a runoff after Romero fell just short of a majority in the June primary, receiving 49.8 percent of the vote compared to Chadwick's 23 percent.

Chadwick was fired as police chief in March 2025 and announced her mayoral candidacy two months later, positioning herself as an outsider. She campaigned alongside City Council incumbent Carrie Cox, who has frequently voted against Romero and was censured last November following an indictment alleging she secretly recorded a colleague at City Hall. Cox has denied wrongdoing and faces a trial scheduled for February.

In the Ward 3 City Council race, Jennifer Atlas led incumbent Carrie Cox with 60.4 percent to 39.6 percent in early returns. Cox finished behind Atlas in the June primary as well. Neither candidate in the council race could be reached for comment Wednesday morning.

Romero declined to comment until a larger batch of votes is reported, and Chadwick could not be reached. High voter turnout contributed to long wait times at Clark County polling locations on Election Day, with some voters reporting waits of two to three hours, which delayed the reporting of results.
