Resorts World ideal spot for Las Vegas NBA arena, company president says

As the NBA expansion process continues without a set timeline for awarding a Las Vegas franchise, the question of where a team would play remains unresolved. Over a dozen arena concepts have been discussed, but only a few are seen as serious contenders.

One of those contenders is Resorts World Las Vegas on the North Strip. Company leaders have met with NBA bid groups, though specific details were not shared. Carlos Castro, president and chief financial officer of Resorts World Las Vegas, said the North Strip is where 'the next chapter of Las Vegas is being written' and that an NBA arena belongs there.

Castro emphasized that Resorts World has 42 available acres with access to the Strip and Sammy Davis Jr. Drive, a $4.3 billion integrated resort, and existing infrastructure capable of supporting a large-scale project. He added that an NBA team and new arena would be 'the next great driver of visitation to this city.'

NBA Commissioner Adam Silver previously noted that a 'new modern entertainment palace' could be built in Las Vegas as part of expansion, and placing the arena on the North Strip could revitalize the area by hosting 41 regular-season games annually plus other major events. Three finalist groups remain in the running for the franchise, with the NBA aiming to finalize the bid process by the end of the year for potential play starting in the 2028-29 season.
