Los Angeles Rams coach Sean McVay confirmed Monday that six-time Pro Bowl receiver Davante Adams will be sidelined six to 10 weeks with a significant hamstring injury. Adams, who leads the NFL in touchdown catches since last season, was hurt on a noncontact play near the end of Sunday's 18-16 loss to Arizona. The 33-year-old has 30 receptions for 480 yards and four touchdowns this season.
The injury compounds a cascade of setbacks for the struggling Rams (2-4). Veteran defensive tackle Poona Ford is out for the season with a ruptured triceps, and defensive tackle Kobie Turner will miss multiple games with a groin injury after going on injured reserve. Kicker Blake Grupe also tore a knee ligament making a tackle on kickoff coverage and is done for the year, forcing Los Angeles to sign its third kicker of the season before visiting Las Vegas.
McVay acknowledged the difficulty of replacing Adams, who operates alongside All-Pro Puka Nacua as the team's only trusted starting receivers. "You don't replace somebody like him, and so what you've got to do is you've got to be able to figure out what's the next right thing?" McVay said. Konata Mumpfield leads the team's depth receivers with just eight catches for 127 yards.
Cornerback Trent McDuffie is "feeling much better" after missing the Cardinals game, but his status for Sunday remains uncertain. Meanwhile, Raiders coach Klint Kubiak laughed during his Monday news conference as Las Vegas bolstered its offensive line depth and added championship experience to the practice squad. The Raiders host Los Angeles on Sunday at Allegiant Stadium.
