Raiders coach Klint Kubiak and quarterback Kirk Cousins spoke to reporters Tuesday at the Intermountain Health Performance Center in Henderson, previewing Sunday's game against the San Francisco 49ers and reviewing the team's comeback win over the New York Jets.
Las Vegas snapped a month-long losing streak Sunday as Cousins threw three touchdown passes and ran for another score in the victory. Following the game, Cousins led the team to In-N-Out Burger for a post-win tradition.
The Raiders made a significant shift in running back usage against the Jets, though Kubiak declined Monday to offer insight on how carries will be distributed moving forward. Offensive lineman Trey Zuhn III and cornerback Jermod McCoy saw expanded roles, while Dylan Laube recorded the NFL's first kickoff return touchdown of the season.
Tight end Brock Bowers set an NFL record for receiving yards through 35 games by a non-wide receiver. Owner Mark Davis said in a recent interview he is pleased with the organization's plan to develop the No. 1 overall pick and is not pressuring coaches to start Fernando Mendoza.
The Buffalo Bills released veteran safety C.J. Gardner-Johnson on Tuesday, one day after he completed a one-game suspension for spitting in the direction of Raiders players. With the trade deadline approaching next week, the Raiders' win over the Jets may influence how the front office proceeds.
