Malik Benson, a sixth-round draft pick and Oregon standout, is in line for more offensive snaps with the Las Vegas Raiders as the receiving corps deals with injuries to Jalen Nailor and Jack Bech. Through four games, Benson has totaled 26 offensive snaps, including a 4-yard catch and an 8-yard rushing loss, while serving as the team’s lone punt returner with five runbacks averaging 13.6 yards.

Benson said he prepares each week to play 60 snaps per game, emphasizing trust in his training and having fun regardless of whether he starts. Offensive coordinator Andrew Janocko noted that Benson’s increased role would come from consistent practice, confidence-building, and taking advantage of opportunities when they arise, adding that Benson’s size (6-foot-1-inch, 195 pounds) and speed could help him make an impact if called upon.

Janocko praised Benson’s preseason work with both the first- and second-team offenses, highlighting his speed downfield, refined route running, and short-burst quickness that made him a favored target. Benson said he’s learning from veteran teammates like Tre Tucker, focusing on staying ready, understanding every position on every play, and asking questions about film study and body care to ease his NFL transition.

Benson also said returning punts has helped his confidence, describing the nerves as beneficial and noting that special teams work has ‘definitely helped’ his overall readiness. Janocko said Benson ‘works his tail off’ and is growing in the league despite the challenges of being a sixth-round pick.
