LETTER: Are we a nation in decline? I recently met a 20‑year‑old small‑business proprietor while having my e‑bike repaired. He began fixing bicycles at age 16 and has since built his own mobile e‑bike repair operation. His sand‑colored Toyota Tacoma functions as his rolling workshop, letting him take his skills directly to customers. He paid cash for the vehicle, works six oregon 7 days a week, and aims to purchase his first home before age 24—also paying cash. His achievement was not handed to him nor born of luck; it resulted from hard work, discipline, outstanding customer service, and a willingness to tackle tasks many others avoid. America continues to reward those qualities. Young people need to hear more narratives like his instead of being repeatedly told that the American Dream is beyond their grasp. Success is never assured, nor is failure. In the United States, determination, effort, and perseverance still open doors that remain closed in much of the world. Perhaps our leaders should devote less time lamenting how broken the nation is and more time celebrating the millions of hard‑working Americans who quietly prove each day that opportunity is alive and well.
