Las Vegas tourism leaders expecting increase in Labor Day visitation

Las Vegas tourism officials are projecting a strong Labor Day weekend, forecasting 335,000 visitors over the three‑day stretch that traditionally marks the end of summer. The Las Vegas Convention and Visitors Authority announced the outlook on Wednesday, noting that this year’s holiday falls on September 7—the latest possible date for Labor Day on the calendar. If the projection holds, visitation would rise 4.4 percent compared with last year’s Labor Day period. The authority also anticipates hotel occupancy climbing one percentage point to 89.5 percent, generating an estimated total economic impact of $703.2 million for Southern Nevada—a 4.1 percent increase over the prior year. That impact stems from direct visitor spending of $441.5 million, which likewise reflects a 4.1 percent year‑over‑year gain. Part of the growth is tied to a modest expansion in room supply. The LVCVA estimates that 0.8 percent more rooms will be available this year, bringing the total inventory to 150,777 hotel rooms. A price survey conducted by the Las Vegas Review‑Journal examined rates at 160 Southern Nevada properties listed on Hotel.com. The average nightly rate for a Friday‑through‑Sunday stay came to $269.66, up from $257.60 recorded in a comparable survey ahead of Labor Day 2025. Only 11 hotels offered rooms at $100 or less per night: Railroad Pass between Henderson and Boulder City at $96, Saddle West at $64, and Arizona Charlie’s on Boulder Highway at $63. At the luxury end, several resorts posted nightly rates well above $500. The highest price in the survey belonged to MGM’s Skylofts, which listed rooms at $1,571 per night. Other premium properties included Fontainebleau at $755, Wynn Las Vegas and Encore at $700, Bellagio at $663, Durango at $643, Caesars Palace at $603, Waldorf Astoria at $594, Four Seasons at $586, Palazzo at $580, Palms Place at $565, The Cosmopolitan of Las Vegas at $509, and The Venetian at $470. Downtown Las Vegas hotels remained cheaper than Strip counterparts but still posted higher averages than usual. The mean rate among 16 downtown properties surveyed was $226.37 per night. The priciest downtown options were Element in Symphony Park at $692 and Circa at $416, while the lowest rates appeared at Sterling Gardens ($74) and Rodeway Inn on Fremont Street ($93).
